Regular exercise is linked to many positive outcomes...
- reduced risk of heart disease, high blood pressure, osteoporosis, diabetes, and obesity
- helps relieve stress and anxiety
- increases energy and endurance
- helps you sleep better
- boosts your IQ
Plus, I can attest from personal experience that many CEO's and successful leaders work out regularly. It seems to be one of the secrets of the inner circle. The people in the boardroom are swimmers, hikers, and marathon runners.
What better way to foster a good habit than to play sports in high school? Pick a sport and try out. Soccer, volleyball, basketball, golf, track, cross-country - just play.

I agree that sports can be a wonderful aspect of highschool. It's a positive extracurricular activity, it'll keep you in shape, and you'd be getting involved in school spirit! I was just looking at my grade 12 yearbook and I was almost depressed because I never got involved in the school in a positive way. All I did was "hang out" and never joined clubs or sports. I regret that now and I will surely encourage my children to make better choices! I would probably have had more to write about beside my graduation picture if I had done some things!
My advice, get involved with your school and you'll have memories to share with your children!
