the stuff of life

“Time is life. It is irreversible and irreplaceable. To waste your time is to waste your life, but to master your time is to master your life and make the most of it.” (Alan LaKein, Time Management Consultant)

My husband and I decided tonight that it's about time for us to write out our goals again. We usually go on a little "goals retreat" every six months - or, at a minimum, every year. And we ask ourselves, "where are we heading?""Who am I now and who do I want to become?" "Where do I want to be in five years, ten years, and beyond?"

Then, we discuss and debate and probe and cross out and re-write. Until our goals are there. On paper. Living.

Then, we move toward them.

Tim

Tim was in the Tucson Citizen yesterday as one of the 60 finalists for Tucson Business Edge's "40 under 40." Essentially, the award program showcases rising leaders in the Tucson metropolitan community who are under 40 years old.

I am so proud.

Tim is destined for great things. And I'm glad to be a part of his success.

The Best Day(s) of My Life

A few days ago, my sister asked me what has been the best day of my life. I couldn't choose between two days (although the second one couldn't have happened without the first...).

1) The day I married Tim (not the wedding part): What a wonderful, peaceful feeling it was when we drove off together as husband and wife. Now, five years later, I can't imagine my life without him. He has brought so many colors into my life and I am forever changed because of his presence.

2) The day I gave birth to Kayla (not the birthing part): There was great and horrible pain - and then there was extraordinary joy. We were two and then - in one breathless, beautiful moment - we became three. In that minute, and in the days that followed, there was an overwhelming sense of fulfillment and purpose. The lens through which we viewed our life suddenly seemed clearer and brighter - and our role in the world instantaneously became important and magnificent - to protect, to teach, and to nurture a tiny life.
